Ken Malek moderated a panel discussion, “Even Napoleon Had His Watergate” – Financially Troubled Industry Special Topics, at the Eighth Annual American College of Bankruptcy Seventh Circuit Education Committee Seminar, held at Chicago-Kent College of Law.  The seminar was attended by many members of the Midwest region bankruptcy, turnaround and restructuring communities.

Ken Malek and MalekRemian have been chosen to participate on the ABI/AIRA VALCON 2018 Advisory Board.  The annual distressed valuation conference will be held May 16-18, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.

Ken Malek and Bob Remian have presented MCLE programs at a number of national and Illinois law firms on the new guidelines of the American Institute of CPAs that address the “reasonable certainty” standard for civil damages litigation cases.

Ken Malek has been selected to the Board of Regents of the American College of Bankruptcy (“College”), serving as the Regent from the 7th Federal Judicial Circuit, comprising Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.  He has been a Fellow of the College since 1996.

Mr. Malek is an expert in complex reorganizations and restructurings and other insolvency matters, and he has been appointed as Chapter 11 Examiner.

The College is an honorary association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals, members of the judiciary and educators.  The Board of Regents is the body charged with selecting candidates to the College, and does so based on a record of the highest standard of professionalism, ethics, character, and integrity; professional expertise and leadership in contributing to the enhancement of bankruptcy and insolvency processes; and sustained evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing or writing in the field.  Of the approximately 850 Fellows of the College in the U.S. and internationally, less than 50 are CPAs or other practitioners from the financial disciplines.  (Washington, D.C.)
